Come sit at my desk with me

Season 3, episode 2

Yikes, taking 5 days of PTO and then jumping back in; I forgot how crazy things would be. This week was non-stop, understandably. Not because I had many meetings (I actually prefer it that way — so I can actually get in and do the work!), but because I had many things to catch up on (obviously) but also a handful of net-new projects to begin.

In last week’s newsletter, I started Season 3 of this thing. No rhyme or reason really to a new season of the newsletter, just felt like it. When have you have your own newsletter, you can do what you want, that’s the fun part.

I also shared last week that I started a very new thing back in June. I started putting myself on camera on Tiktok, cross-posting to Youtube, re-joined Twitter, and have started to be more active on Instagram after four years; dang. I don’t know what it is, or maybe I do. People who create content and share their experience starting, inspired me to create. Or maybe I just want another platform to share my thoughts LOL who knows.

A few days ago, I started experimenting with a new video format: Sit at my desk with me.

Up until recently, I had a pretty defined structure to my videos. They evolved slightly since starting back in June, but more or less a structure. I’d sit at my dining table, prop up the camera, and record. The video had the same look and feel pretty much.

A few days ago, I started propping up my (new) camera on my desk and recording from there. Part cringe, part new and fresh, part kinda cool. It feels more engaging too.

I’ve been inspired by some creators who create from their desk, and show off their workspace. If you were to look at my Instagram explore page, it would partly be photos of people’s desk setups. I can’t get enough of it. I also want to know where they bought everything (so it doesn’t help my wallet… eeeek).

Back to the videos. I’m still experimenting, they aren’t perfect. Even with my openers and transitions, still kinda cringy. But I’m doing it. What I have realized is that you can literally post anything. So in that first CSAMDWM video, I give a tour of the things on my desk. Because why not? (I don’t have an Amazon storefront…. yet! I also don’t even really know what that means.)

Screenshot below from my first video in the new format. Watch the video by heading to the link below and hitting the Tiktok option. I welcome feedback, plz!

Thanks for reading and for being here. I don’t take for granted that you care what I have to say. Or even if you don’t care, and you’re still here; thanks for being a fan anyway. ❣️
