Core career skills: Storytelling

Put things into context

Telling a story makes you memorable. It builds an emotional and personal connection with your audience, which strengthens your relationships with colleagues, customers, prospects, really anyone.

Storytelling also boosts persuasion and influence. Think about someone who isn’t yet a customer of yours but you’re working hard to get them in as a paying customer. Tell them a story of a customer who’s been successful with your product. It makes the experience with said product real; the story humanizes the experience. It gives your prospect something else to lean on as they make their decision.

Tell stories. They never get old.
