From Linkedin to Aux Cord Audacity
Season 5, episode 4
More on Aux Cord Audacity in a sec.
Hello! Welcome to episode 4 of Season 5. Follow up on the move: it went smoothly thank goodness. Uneventful, which is exactly how I want moving to be always. I’m also one of those crazy people who likes to do everything that day. I don’t like going to bed with boxes and bins everywhere. No thank you. (I’m the same with dishes in the sink too).
This week, I want to talk about how I went from Linkedin to Aux Cord Audacity. That probably means nothing to you right now. Keep reading.
If you didn’t know, Apple celebrated 50 years as of April 1st. Wild.
In true me fashion, I like to keep up with what’s happening out in the wild, in our cultural zeitgeist, and I had an idea to highlight this 50 year milestone, but to do so on Linkedin (which is also in true me fashion).
In the post, I asked people to name a song they used to listen to on the iPod and following that, I would make a master playlist with all songs mentioned in the comments.
And let me tell you, Linkedin did not disappoint (thank you, you know who you are). I was filled with so many memories and nostalgia for the times I would blast many of these songs on my stereo, in my car, at summer camp, and even in the car with my parents (when they would let me take over the music song selection, of course).
But there is kinda a niche experience (among millennials I would argue, for the most part) where we just needed to be in control of the AUX cord; the cord being the thing that would enable us to plug in and blast the music from whatever stereo we had available to us at the time.
We all wanted ownership of the AUX cord, myself included. It meant we had power. Lots of it. And when that power was revoked, our ego kinda deflated. But it was okay; usually others had songs to play that were just as much of a banger as the ones I thought I was playing were.
So this post gave folks the the opportunity to have time with a metaphorical AUX cord if you will. Their comment was the big moment—it would get added to the playlist I made of course, but it was also for that song’s moment to shine. And when I mean shine, I mostly mean unlocking a huuuuuuge part of my memories. So many of these songs I have not heard for at least 10-15 years.
I’ll stop yapping. This was fun. Thanks to those who participated.
If you’re reading this, you’re seeing the playlist before anyone else. (Linkedin post coming soon)
Presenting:
Enjoy!
Thanks for reading and for being here. I don’t take for granted that you care what I have to say. Or even if you don’t care, and you’re still here; thanks for being a fan anyway. ❣️
