I’m building an app!

Recently I decided to trial a month of Claude Max 5x. Because when you pay for something, you have some more skin in the game and therefore, better follow through? Right?

I am designing an app called careerlobby; a comments-first, community-driven app where people at all career levels can share their POV. 1 prompt drops per day, you share your reply to said prompt, and if you choose, you respond to other users’ replies.

I like that the user is not responsible for the parent post. Just the comments section.

Users can click “Felt this” which is basically like “I get you.” “I feel this.” “Relatable.” Users also have a Journal section where all their initial reply to each prompt is automatically stored. You can also keep private one-off notes in the Journal section.

The gamification is called Tenure (love the career reference there). You build up tenure by, you guessed it, showing up! Not intrusive, not annoying. Just quietly in the background, which gets tracked in your profile. On a similar note, there’s a Tenure Board (leaderboard) to see who is showing up consistently.

If Linkedin is more performative, and Reddit is anonymous, then careerlobby sits in between the two. It’s not performative, and it’s not necessarily anonymous. It’s people sharing their honest takes, agreements, disagreements, and realities of a career.

I’m at the stage now where I need to bring everything over to Vercel for it to work it’s magic (please forgive me, still trying to figure out what I’m even saying).
