I rage-built a job board

Season 6, episode 2

Because honestly?

My feed on Linkedin recently is just not it. Not only is it frustrating to see how many great people are being let go from their jobs, but it’s even more frustrating to see how some companies are handling it.

There’s a bajillion job boards out there, sure, but we all can do our little part. It doesn’t need to be something revolutionary. It can be a simple introduction, or a comment on a post for reach, or sending a check-in DM to see how people are doing letting them know that you’re free to chat or support in any way. Building a platform is just one of the gazillion ways you can support folks in your network.

It’s not easy out there, my friends! So I decided to take some further action.

I built The Board; a non-gated, free, open access job board, which is an extension of my app, careerlobby. It made sense. And I just knew I had to do it. Missed opportunity to help others if I didn’t do it.

Whether you’re looking for a job or you have one to share, please see this as an easy, open way to get what you need and contribute how you want.

And the page is pretty simple: It’s basically one big table, with filters available, listing out jobs, locations (and if Remote-friendly), links to the job and the company page, date shared, and any details you as the sharer want to include in the post (that part is optional).

I built this literally 12 hours ago from the moment I’m sending this newsletter, so it’s bare bones, but useable, and I hope valuable. If there is something you want to see included, please let me know either by replying to this newsletter email or writing me at [email protected]. Building is so much fun (a challenge, let’s not get it twisted! But very fun and rewarding).

One of my favorite things about digging into this app building world over the last month or so is that I have full creative freedom over what I build. It’s refreshing, and freeing honestly.

Like I said before: If this motivates you to get started on an idea you’re sitting on, then good! It should. Go build it.

Thanks for reading and for being here. I don’t take for granted that you care what I have to say. Or even if you don’t care, and you’re still here; thanks for being a fan anyway. ❣️
