People who make TikTok worth opening
Season 5, episode 3
Welcome to Spring. And to Season 5 Episode 3.
Soon I’ll be able to tuck away my jackets, never to be seen again, for a few months that is. But it’s Chicago, so you never know. 🎢
This week I want to share an extended POV from a post I made on Linkedin earlier this month about some of the Tiktok accounts I follow and what’s great about them. And perhaps include a couple more I’ve discovered since making that post.
Let’s jump in.
I wouldn’t say there is one general topic or theme to the content I follow; it’s definitely a mixed bag. Scrolling through my FYP has uncovered some scroll-stopping content, across many different genres, formats, and creators.
@abbie.cheeseman: I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again. She needs her own show on The History Channel or something. Everything she posts (aviation, history, fun facts) is always something I never knew or have wanted to learn more about, such as the niche topic of how the Boeing 747 came to be. Or the intentional way airport layouts are designed. Or how long the very first planes and trains traveled. Everything she shares is so interesting, and 9/10 times Abbie is sharing something I did not know before.
@sellingsaraa: First known as ‘Sara from Pareto,’ she left being an employee and became the CEO of her own company. Very cool story. I’ve actually written a newsletter about this creator. More on that here.
@25wordsorlesstv: This is so random, but hear me out. This account is so fun to watch. And wanna know what’s great about the game?? I feel like it’s aa fun time when you’re on either side of the game; the clue-giver or the guesser. You know how some games you play it’s not as fun to have certain roles? Well this game is the opposite. I feel like it’s fun to play no matter your role.
@petersdesigncompany: I love everything brand design. I find that whole world super fascinating. I love watching how people design, how they thing, their process from concept to execution, everything. Peter does some fun logo redesigns; many of which turn out a lot better than the brand’s official logo lol.
@shwinnabego: On a similar note, Ashwinn shares brand and marketing insights. One of my favorite videos he does is when he’s analyzing the graphic design of a product, campaign, or service. One of my favorites was his explanation of the Zohran Mamdani campaign. I took note of the design of that campaign right away. The fonts, the colors, the nostalgia; so I’m glad someone covered it and explained why it was so good.
@erika_: Erika Ayers Badan, CEO of Food52, but I initially discovered her when she was making career advice videos from her desk as CEO of Barstool Sports. She also wrote a great book, called Nobody Cares About Your Career. I loved her career advice videos that she did while at Barstool Sports; she would call the series “1:1s” which I thought was a great name, given what the videos covered. Straightforward, insightful, practical career advice; good stuff.
I could make this list a lot longer, but I’ll stop there. These are just some of the Tiktok accounts I enjoy following.
Tell me one of your favorites! Who do you like to follow? Why? What makes their content scroll-stopping?
Thanks for reading and for being here. I don’t take for granted that you care what I have to say. Or even if you don’t care, and you’re still here; thanks for being a fan anyway. ❣️
